Tips To Grow Your Affiliate Marketing Income

Finding a profitable niche is crucial to making it in the affiliate marketing world.

If you’re targeting the wrong niche, you’re just wasting all your time and effort. That is why it is important for you to target the right niche from the onset.

Even though money on the Internet doesn’t come quite as easy as it used to, it is still possible for new home business owners to enter the world of Internet marketing and reap substantial amounts of profit.

There are many work from home moms who have entered this arena and are making a fortune online.

Internet marketing is continually expanding and parents that stay at home can certainly take advantage of this.

Working from home gives you more flexibility and control over your schedule. You can work during hours best suited to your life-style, which allows you to also enjoy the company of your children. The Internet makes it possible for work from home moms and dads to take care of their family at home while earning a healthy income online.

The Internet is already a part of humankind’s modern lifestyle. Millions of people around the globe connect to the Internet everyday to perform searches and conduct online transactions. These people are from different backgrounds and age groups. There is a huge market out there that you can tap into right from your very own home. You just need to find the right niche.

The quickest and easiest way to start cashing in online is to sell products as an affiliate. There are countless products sold online that target very specific niches, for example, dog shampoo. If you spend the time and effort to market these products, you can earn generous commissions from the sales you make.

Another way that requires a little more effort, but ultimately will be more rewarding as a business, is to start your own niche website. The great thing about this is your own interests can match your chosen niche or business.

Now, how do you determine the most profitable niches to target?

Keyword research is essential. Keywords can make or break you, so it is imperitive that you identify the most profitable keywords and phrases. These keywords are what online users type in search engine boxes. Highly searched keywords have great money-making potential.

You can use keyword research tools such as Google AdWords and Wordtracker to pinpoint the most popular keywords and phrases that belong to your chosen niche.

When trying to find niche with good income potential, go for one that is not too saturated, yet generates enough interest that it will be worth your time and effort.

Select niches with high popularity yet relatively low competition. If there is too much competition, it may be hard for you to enter that market and put yourself in an advantageous position.

One of the few affiliate programs that has recently got my attention was the Bitcoin affiliate program.

The Forbes Magazine (pretty much the most respected financial magazine on the planet) writes that you could have turned $25 into nearly $4000 if you knew where to put your money and Bitcoin is one such source

Considering Affiliate Marketing As A Career

I guess most of you know that many people over the internet are utilizing affiliate marketing to either supplement an existing income or to create an income from home.

I reckon most of you are also aware that affiliate marketing is when you promote affiliate products, and are paid when you make a sale.

Here are four reasons that you might want to consider if you haven’t started affiliate marketing already.

1. No start up costs:
Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to start earning money on the internet because it costs you nothing to sign up and participate in various affiliate programs. You don’t have to worry about paying for products on a monthly basis and some affiliate programs don’t have a quota that you must reach to get paid on a monthly basis. There are even some affiliate programs that pay instantly.

2. A wide variety of products:
What’s your passion? Is it health, network marketing, food, self improvement or maybe another area? There are so many different types of affiliate products that you can promote that will be in the same niche as what you are already doing. If you have a health and wellness blog, find affiliate programs that are centered around health and wellness products or if you have a website that shares recipes with your readers you can opt to use food and kitchen related affiliate programs. If you are a network or internet marketer you might want to look for products to promote that center around helping other marketers like autoresponders, PLR and information products.

3. You can greatly increase your income:
Depending on what you’re promoting, how you promote it and if it meshes well with your niche, you can create a nice income from home by using affiliate programs. Affiliate programs can be promoted alongside whatever else you are already doing. If you’re blogging already, you can use banner advertising or article marketing to promote products to your readers while still supplying them with quality content. When someone clicks on your link or banner and makes a purchase you earn. The more this happens the more your earnings are increased.

4. Affiliate marketers usually get a large chunk of the profits:
It ‘s not uncommon to see affiliate marketing programs offering 30 percent, 50 percent or even 75 percent of their profits to their affiliates. Why in the world would they offer up so much of their profits? The answer is quite simple … traffic. Affiliate marketers can bring in so much more traffic than the owner of the product and program can bring in by them-self .

More people promoting make the amount of traffic and sales so much greater. In exchange, affiliate program owners are happy to pay an amount that is more than fair to ones who are bringing in sales.

Offline Advertising

Have you ever wondered why some of the biggest online businesses spend huge sums on direct mail, as well as TV, magazine, radio, and newspaper advertising? Is it because they have money to burn?

No, it’s because mass media ads and direct mail can actually draw highly targeted visitors – prospects who are ready to buy.

Those big companies with deep pockets use mass media ads to create indelible name recognition in the public’s mind. After branding their company into our consciousness, they use direct mail techniques such as postcard mailings to send offers to hand-picked prospects who are most likely to make a purchase soon.

It’s strange, but very few online marketers have discovered the power of direct mail. A handful have learned to use classified advertising – the distant cousin of expensive mass media advertising. But almost none are using other forms of offline ads. This can also give you an enormous edge.

If you make your living from affiliate programs and related upsells, you can bet that your competition isn’t doing any sort of offline advertising If you think offline advertising is too expensive, think again. Because PPC has become so popular, the cost of high quality online advertising is rising dramatically. It’s common for a PPC (pay-per-click) campaign in a competitive field to cost $1 or more per click – sometimes much more. And you don’t even know if those clicks are coming from real prospects or your competitors’ itchy
fingers.

In fact, today PPC can actually end up costing as much, or more, than direct mail on a cost per sale basis. So do the math before you write off direct mail. A mailing of custom color postcards, for example, can definitely cost less than $3 each to print and mail, and that includes the mailing list.

More importantly, you must think about your projected COST PER SALE when comparing PPC and direct mail. Clicks may be cheap, but customers may not. All traffic – whether targeted or not – is made up of people. If these “clickers” are unlikely to be buyers, you’ll lose money on PPC no matter how cheap the clicks are.

For highly competitive keywords you can easily end up paying over $3 per click if you want to be on the first page of Google. If you stop and consider WHO you’re selling to, the direct mail campaign may be a better investment. You can target exactly the sort of person you want, with just the right demographics, and tell them to go to your site where you’ll show them an irresistible offer.

What about classifieds?

With classified print advertising, you can advertise your URL in literally hundreds of small daily newspapers for ridiculously small amounts per ad. And classified ads in major national niche magazines can be very affordable – and usually pull extremely well.

These days, television ads may not even be out of your reach. If you enjoy the spotlight, you can purchase "leased access" time on local U.S. cable television. By Federal Law, every local cable station must allow the general public to purchase time on their channel, in blocks of 30 minutes. Since the costs are also controlled by law, even in large metropolitan areas a 30 minute segment may cost as little as $200.

These days, $200 won’t buy you much PPC in a competitive field like mortgages or debt management. You don’t even have to be selling to a local market to make a television segment pay. As long as you’ve got an easy-to-remember URL, put a special television offer page on your site.

Then offer a high value upsell free to the first 20 people who respond to the “TV special.”

Finally, don’t forget other incredibly simple offline methods of getting your URL out there. Instead of a traditional business card, print several thousand with your URL in huge letters and leave them anywhere relevant. Don’t forget pencils and pens, letter openers and coasters, calendars and T-shirts…

Remember, you don’t need a bricks and mortar location to use offline advertising.

Amazon, Gateway, Dell, AOL, and many other online businesses spend millions on offline promotional methods. That’s what’s made their brands and URLs famous.

You can do the same on a much smaller scale. It’s a big offline world.

Plenty of people spend more time offline and on. Open your mind to using offline
marketing to get your message in front of the RIGHT people. That way you can get your URL in front of targeted prospects. And when they visit your site, they’ve actually made a conscious decision to do so.

Create And Use Your Own Ads

Many affiliate programs nowadays provide you with promotional materials that you can use. These sometimes cover the full spectrum of advertising, such as banner ads, PPC ads, classifieds, text links, ezine recommendations, solo ads, forum signatures, and even blog posts!

Try taking the provided material and see if it is appropriate for your list.

You can always rewrite what was provided in your own words and using your own usual tone of voice. As most of your subscribers know how you normally write to them. If you use the text provided by the affiliate merchant verbatim, chances are that they will not know that it was written by you.

Also, many of your subscribers are also subscribed to other online marketers’ lists and they will be receiving the same promotion from them. If your email looks exactly the same or even similar, your subscribers are going to lose some respect for you, as you have just regurgitated an email supplied by the affiliate merchant.

It is important that you provide your own perspective on why they should purchase the affiliate product in question. One of the strongest perspectives that you can provide is that of someone (you) who has purchased the product and is giving a review and letting them know how it has helped you, and how you are using the product in your everyday life.

If you can create or offer a unique and special bonus that ties in and compliments the product, then make sure you do that. This bonus could be as simple as a tutorial, a field book, or a companion guide. It can be in the form of an ebook, audio or video (so long as it is digitally delivered). This will make your email, ad or promotion stand out and avoid the problem of being just another "me too" ad which your subscribe will be tired of getting.

Submitting your web site to web directories

Submitting your web site to web directories is a great way to build high-quality inbound links, increase your Page Rank, and improve your SERPS.

The Internet now features a large number of both general purpose and specialized directories. The specialized directories focus on a specific topic or region. Unfortunately, submitting your web site to the available directories requires a significant investment of time and effort. The key to achieving a positive ROI (Return On Investment) from directory submissions is to focus on those directories, which will provide you with high-quality inbound links.

It is important to note that many web directories have issues, which prevent them from providing useful links. Taking the time understand these issues and submit only to the directories which will provide value will provide significant timesavings in promoting your site.

Taxonomy of Web Directory Issues

Web Directories Which Are No Longer Managed - A survey of 79 general-purpose web directories revealed that 62% of those web directories do not appear to be processing submissions. In many cases, this is because the operators of the web directory launched their site with great enthusiasm, became overwhelmed by the amount of effort required to maintain a web directory, and stopped maintaining their directory. These operators leave their directories online to take advantage of the residual advertising revenue, but no longer invest the time required to process directory submissions.

Web Directories which Block Search Engine Robots - Some SEO's believe that they can preserve Google Page Rank by not giving outbound links from their web sites. Web directories, which operate in this manner, will sometimes block Googlebot and other search engine robots from their directory pages using robots.txt or meta tags.

Before submitting to a web directory, check the Page Rank of the directory page upon which you expect your listing to appear. If that page has a Page Rank of zero, it could mean that the site operator is blocking Googlebot. However, this same symptom can also mean that the site or the page is new, and has not been assigned Google Page Rank yet. To research this further, examine the sites robots.txt file and the source code to the directory page upon which you expect your listing to appear.

Web Directories which use Scripted Links - Many web directories use scripted links to avoid leaking Page Rank. Scripted links use PHP or JavaScript links to redirect the user to the target page. Although these links work correctly for most site visitors, they do not work for most search engine robots.

Free Directory Scammers - Several web directories pretend to accept free submissions, but in reality these free submissions are never processed. These directories claim to accept free submissions as part of a bait-and-switch tactic to upsell webmasters into paid submissions. Often these web directories will claim to provide free service for web sites, which meet certain defined criteria. It just happens that no web site ever manages to meet those criteria!

Web Directories, which Require Reciprocal Links - Some web directories require you to link back to them in order to be listed. This helps build the Page Rank of the directory, which benefits all web sites in the directory. Some people view these sites as link-farms. If your web site is unable to provide a link back to these directories, do not invest your time submitting your web site to these directories. Reciprocal linking is not an appropriate strategy for all web sites.

Paid Directories - Some web directories charge for submissions. These web directories charge either a subscription fee, a one-time fee, or a Cost-Per-Click (CPC) fee. Some of these web directories charge exorbitant fees -- and a few of these web directories charge this fee whether your site is accepted or not! Although there are exceptions, the general rule is that paid directories do not provide a positive ROI.

Better Directories - A few web directories stand out by offering good user interfaces, speedy inclusion, and plain HTML links which pass Page Rank:

All The Web Sites / Ezilon.com / illumirate.com / Jayde.com / JoeAnt.com / Massive Links / Mavica.com / Search City.com / The Super Ultra Mega Web Directory / Tygo.com / World Site Index / Wow Directory.com /
