Was going through the article of an online affiliate marketing colleague of mine, Susanne Myers, the details of which is given below. I reckon this is an important point to every upcoming affiliate.
A lot of people look into affiliate marketing each year. Quite a few of them sign up for an affiliate program and do at least something to promote that link. Some will take the extra step and set up a website or blog, but very few of us end up making a full-time living as Affiliate
Marketers.
What Makes Those Few Stand Out ?
It is persistence and tenacity in what we do along with list building and sharing lots of quality content. Affiliate marketing isn’t a get rich quick scheme and it isn’t push button easy… but it is a great way to build a business and make a living online.
You Have To Have Patience
Fulltime affiliate marketing businesses aren’t built overnight. It takes time.
One of the advantages of this business model is that you can create a lot of passive income. The big disadvantage is that you have to put a lot of work into it upfront without seeing much of a return at first. The key is not to get discouraged. Set a small goal. One of my first goals was to have my affiliate checks pay for my cellphone bill, then the cable and phone bill, then the car payment etc.
Focus On Quality Content and Publish It Consistently
Set up a blog and start to share content on a regular basis. Write blog posts, record videos or even audios and post them on your site. Start showing off your expertise and focus on quality. I can’t stress that enough, because as we go forward more and more emphasis will be put on quality content and it only makes sense. Your blog is often one of the first places potential subscribers and customers interact with you. You want to make a good first impression.
Build It And They Will Come Just Doesn’t Work
One of the biggest mistakes I made when I started out was to put all my time and effort into building my site. I wrote tons of great articles, had pretty pictures and monetized it all with affiliate offers. My only problem was that I had virtually no traffic …
As the line from the “field of dreams” - build it and they will come” just will not
work. In fact, it is the other way around.. If you sell it, they will come
You have to go out there and market your site. At the very least spend 50% of your time on sites other than your own. Be active on social media, write articles, guest blog etc. Spread the word about your site and people will start to find you.
A Daily Schedule
Spend about 30 minutes every single day for the next 30 days to build your affiliate income. Write some blog posts, do some article marketing, get active on social media sites, record some videos and upload them to YouTube, write some auto responder messages, set up a new squeeze page … it doesn’t matter what you do but take some action this month and watch your affiliate income grow.
